When in Maastricht: TaarT

May 15, 2016

One of my favorite things to do when I go out of town, is explore new places to eat or drink. I’m not the kind of type who goes to a city without any preparation, especially when it gets to food. I always do my research to make sure I don’t visit a place without knowing what to get. It’s a part of my controle, and a part that I need something that fits my taste.

This time, Niels and I went to Maastricht. I searched for the best places to have coffee, and then found this amazing place; “TaarT” which means literally “Pie”. I can’t remember I have seen so many homemade delicious pies come together, which actually made the decision to tell the waitress that “ohh, just one cappuccino for me” even harder. So, I choose the pie of the day which was “Oreo chocolate cake”. Holy guacamoly. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate cake because most of the time it’s to heavy for me, which gives my stomach the feeling it can explode every minute, BUT, this cake looked so delicious that I had to try it. Yolo. BEST DECISION EVER! It was definitely the best Oreo pie I have ever tried. The staff is friendly, and I love the interior. It gives me the feeling that I visit my favorite grandma, the one with the olden dusty chairs and old school chandeliers. Oh, and speaking of the cappuccino, it was good, very good. Definitely worth the visit when you’re visiting the south of Holland.
